Refreshingly fresh homemade lemonade recipe

Nothing beats freshly made lemonade. Make our fresh no cook homemade lemonade recipe with the unique addition of brown sugar.

muddling lemons for fresh lemonade recipe

8 large lemons

1 cup of raw sugar

8 cups water

*You can use 2 cups of sugar but I like to have a little less sugar for our little GDE team members.

  1. Slice the 8 lemons and place them in a large bowl.
  2. Mix one cup of raw sugar into the bowl with a wooden spoon.
  3. Use a wooden spoon to squash lemons – about 10 minutes
  4. Let sit covered for about 20 minutes this allows for the sugar to draw the lemon juice out.
  5. Squash for about another 5 minutes
  6. Place a sieve over a pot and place half the lemons in the sieve.
  7. Use the wooden spoon to press the juice through gently. Then repeat with the second half of the lemons. Pour any remaining juice from the bowl into the saucepan. There should be about 1 -2 cups of juice/cordial.
  8. Place the cordial into a jug and add 8 cups of water. You can place it in the fridge to cool or add ice if you cannot wait. You may also like to add some fresh mint and fresh lemon slices.
